Changes to SOLO search results display

As you may already have noticed, SOLO has recently improved the way it displays search results whenever multiple editions or versions of the same item are found. Results for such items are now displayed as in the example below:

Simply click on 'View all n versions' to see the individual records for all the different editions and versions. These will be listed in date order with the newest at the top, though you can change this sort order if you wish.

If you want to see only the edition(s) held by a particular library, you can refine your results using the menu options on the left-hand side of the search results screen - simply click on the name of the library you are interested in. (You may need to click on 'more' first to see the full list of names.)

Welcome back!

Welcome back to our returning students, and welcome to all the visiting students who are joining us this term. If there is anything that library staff can help you with, please ask!

Some points to note for the coming term:

  • Books borrowed for the Easter vacation are due back on Wednesday 4th May - please make sure you have returned or renewed your loans by then. (For a reminder of how to renew your books online, please see the Library Guide, or have a look at this post.) The Trinity Term loan period has now begun; all undergraduate loans for this term will be due back on Wednesday 22nd June.
  • Space will be at a premium in the library for the next few weeks. To make sure everyone has a fair chance of getting a seat, desks will be cleared every morning and belongings will be left on the shelves next to the photocopier for you to come and collect. You may store material overnight in one of the crates near the photocopier, but please do not leave valuables or books that have not been checked out. The crates must not be removed from this area.
  • Following a successful pilot of the Night Learn Centre last term, the Douglas Price Room (Café Keble) will once again be open as an informal learning space on Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6.00-11.00pm, from First Week onwards.
  • And last but certainly not least, the very best of luck to everyone doing exams!
